TESIM Support Update – June 2017

    Bringing programmes together

Families get so excited about the newborns that they sometimes forget their elder children. We don’t. That’s why a series of activities focusing on ENPI CBC programmes is gaining strong momentum in our work plan.

You already know that on 10 May we have organised in Brussels a networking event on the closure of the programming period 2007-2013. The meeting provided a platform for discussion on how to ensure a timely and efficient closure both of projects and programmes. The schedule is tight, especially for those programmes supposed to submit their final reports already by end of June, but prospects are encouraging. During the meeting, the TESIM Guide on closure was presented, and an updated version will be available soon for download on our website. And there was so much on the table that we will meet again in Brussels on 27 June. The topic? Hmmm…recoveries. Gulp!

Of course, ENPI CBC is not only about procedures and financial aspects. Showing its positive results for the populations living along the EU’s external borders is paramount. For this reason, we will further explore how to best capitalise results in Rome on 7-8 June, together with our Interact colleagues. Our aim? Sharing with you four thematic publications, showcasing the most tangible results achieved by the one thousand projects implemented. Parallel to this, work on the update of the KEEP database is ongoing so that you can also benefit from all available information.

Two quick newsflashes on present programmes. Registration for the 2nd LabGroup on LIPs that will take place in Vilnius on 20-21 June is now closed; we are happy to count again on the participation of all programmes, as well as of DG NEAR. And we can no longer keep it secret: for this year’s annual conference we will head up north to pay a visit to our Estonian colleagues. So, Tallinn it is!

    Increasing capacities

Focusing once again on our online capacity building modules may have proved a bit redundant. So, who else is targeted by our capacity building activities? Only last week we travelled all the way east to Amman, to exchange with the Jordanian national authorities on the new governance framework for CBC. And while we write, a training for the newly established technical secretariat of the Black Sea Basin Programme is taking place in Bucharest. But support to potential applicants and partners is growing with the launching of new calls, and during the first fortnight of June we will be in Valmiera, Rezekve, Pskov and Saint Petersburg together with the Latvia-Russia Programme. And we will also be in Olsztyn, contributing to the partner search forum of the Poland-Russia Programme.

    Spreading the word

With the annual conference heading north and many capacity building activities travelling eastbound, it is only natural that our communication tools are targeting lately mostly the southern shores of CBC. Thanks to a different article in this bulletin you will get to know more about Rim; her testimony condenses the essence of what this cooperation instrument is all about. Indeed, during the month of May TESIM has spent a week filming in different locations in Tunisia, on projects in the agri-food sector, a quite interesting field of intervention of the Italy-Tunisia Programme. After filming in Sicily, we hope that the full video will be available for distribution in late summer. And with all Eastern brochures now finalised, we are currently working on the national brochures for all Southern Mediterranean Partner Countries. By the way, with some delay, Ramadan Kareem to our Muslim colleagues!
