DG REGIO looking for Programme Assistant

The Directorate General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) is looking for a dynamic person with good communication, analysis, and problem-solving skills to fill the position of Programme Assistant. The candidate’s task is to ensure the appropriate management of different ongoing ENI CBC programmes as well as to support the preparation and management of future (NEXT) CBC programmes.

    Job description

The selected candidate will prepare and negotiate programming documents, monitor the progress of implementation, provide technical advice to managing authorities, participate at monitoring committees and workshops, process payment claims, and analyse documents such as annual implementation reports.

As the programmes contribute to both the Regional policy and the Neighbourhood EU external policies, the job takes place in a political and diplomatic environment: among the required tasks are the preparation of and contribution to briefings, speeches, and other documents on requests from the cabinet, hierarchy, and horizontal services, sometimes with short notice. The candidate will engage with the European External Actions Service (EEAS), DG NEAR, the Delegations and representatives of third countries. The responsibilities imply missions in the EU and the Neighbourhood.

The Unit D1 where the candidate will be working is responsible for the implementation of European territorial cooperation, Instrument for Pre-Accession (IPA) and Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) Programmes. The Unit also facilitates the implementation of four EU macro-regional strategies and the accession negotiations on Chapter 22 on regional policy and coordination of structural instruments.
